CSL Weekly Call To Action

lajollalight.com

I read an article in the newspaper called Empty Bowls For TACO Set. It’s an article about an event happening on May 9th where potters make handmade bowls and they donate them to this program where people can come and get a bowl of soup from a restaurant of their choice. Afterwards, they go to Down Town San Diego and give people in need the bowls of soup. This program was originated from a fundraiser in a Michigan High School Art Class. Some restaurants participating in this are; Bread & Cie, Bernini’s Bistro, The Cottage, Sammy’s Wood Fired Pizza, Point Loma Seafoods, and a lot more. This article interested me because one of my big goals is to find ways to fight world hunger and this program is trying to help that. Even in my Bishops application and my I.S.E.E test I mentioned it, and I think it’s a great idea. Plus the bowls they are using are handmade so they are environmentally friendly unlike plastic bowls or styrofoam. We as a school could even make bowls in art class from the pottery wheel and then donate the bowls to the cause on May 9th. All we would have to do is just bring them to the La Jolla United Methodist Church. So overall this article has inspired me and this could really make an impact on world hunger if we all contributed.
