Easter Story

The Easter Story
By Timmy

Jesus was having dinner with twelve of his disciples and he said that one of them was going to betray him. Jesus knew he was going to die and took a piece of bread and said: “take it, this is my body.” He then took a glass of wine and said: “this is my blood.”

Later Jesus found his disciples asleep, and he asked one of them if he was awake. Immediately after that, another of his disciples, Judas, appeared with an angry mob holding swords and clubs. Then, as Judas went over to Jesus to give him the greeting kiss, Jesus was arrested. Then Jesus asked everyone, “Am I some dangerous criminal, that you come armed with swords and clubs to arrest Me?  Why didn’t you arrest Me in the Temple?  I was there teaching every day.  But these things are happening to fulfill what the Scriptures say about Me.” While he said this, all of his disciples ran away leaving Jesus with Judas and the angry mob. Then the mob tried to grab Jesus, but only tore off his clothes and Jesus ran away completely naked.

But before he could get away, Pilate hit Jesus with a lead tipped whip then gave him to the Roman soldiers to crucify him. They dressed Jesus up in a purple robe and a crown made out of long thorns and mocked him while they put his clothes back on him. They brought Jesus to a place called Golgotha to crucify him. They nailed him to the cross, and they threw dice to decide who would get his clothes. Two criminals were crucified next to him and people walking by were shouting, “Ha! Look at you now. You can destroy the Temple and rebuild it in three days, can you?  Well then, save yourself and come down from the cross!”

A couple hours later Jesus called out  “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” which means, “My God, my God, why have You forsaken Me?” Then Jesus let out a loud cry and with his last breath, and the curtain in the Temple was torn in two. The Roman officer who had been facing him and had seen how he died said this truly was the son of God.

After Jesus was buried, two women were going to leave spices at Jesus’ grave. When they got there, the rock had been rolled on its side. They then entered the tomb and saw a man dressed in a white priest gown. He told the women Jesus is no longer here, and that he rose from the dead. He also told the women to pass the message on to his disciples. However, the women didn’t pass the message on because they were too frightened to speak. It was on a sunday morning now known as Easter Sunday when Jesus rose from the dead. The first person to see him was Mary Magdalene who was the woman whom he had cast out seven demons. She quickly ran to tell his disciples, but when she told them they didn’t believe her. Later, when two people were walking from Jerusalem into the country, Jesus appeared. They didn’t recognize him at first, but when they did, they ran to tell the others, but the others didn’t believe them. Later Jesus appeared while his eleven disciples were eating dinner, and he rebuked them for not believing that he had risen from the dead and not believing the others that had seen him. Then he told them,”Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone, everywhere.  Anyone who believes and is baptized will be saved.  But anyone who refuses to believe will be condemned.  These signs will accompany those who believe: They will cast out demons in My name, and they will speak new languages.  They will be able to handle snakes with safety, and if they drink anything poisonous, it won’t hurt them.  They will be able to place their hands on the sick and heal them.” When he finished talking with him he was sent to heaven and sat in the place of honor at God’s right hand.
