Odysseus Poem

I walk out my door
And leave my wife
To go to war
The day I leave
My son begins his life

I sail to Troy
Hoping to get back to my boy
But not knowing what to expect

I step out with my crew
Looking at what I should of knew
Warriors lined up side by side
I take out my sword
As I look for some sort or award

Then me and my men begin to fight
We fought through darkness
We fought through light
We fought through day
We fought through night
Finally the war ended

Everything seemed splendid
Until my men and I got stranded on multiple islands

I feel very sad
And very bad
Until I see a boat come beside our island
Waiting for us to climb in

We began sailing
While our flag was flailing
Then I saw it
I saw the land not a lot but just a bit
And before I knew it we were there

I climbed out without a scare
I saw them
My wife and son
Then I realized it’s not the war that I won
