I read an article in the newspaper about Scripps Ranch High where a lot of the inner city kids were having very bad grades. So they created this program where the faculty would meet wiht 40 kids after school and work with them very hard. Before the kids never did homework in class they would just look at the clock and would wait for the bell to ring, but after they were taught after school half the kids have seen their grade point average jump from a 1.0 to a 2.0 or a 3.0. The teachers would give these kids gift cards for starbucks, Macy’s or the movie theatre if they worked well and that inspired them to kepp working. I think this program is great because school and education is so important and these kids wouldn’t have that without this program they would never be able to go to colledge and get a good job to be successful. So what these teachers did will change these kid’s futures.
